“Firstly it was really difficult - I’ve run ultramarathons and have climbed one other 3,000m+ peak and this was up there in difficulty. Part of the challenge was not having the right equipment - you need a big bag to carry 3L+ of water and huge snack/lunch boxes. You could really do with specialist climbing/hiking shoes thatre good with slippy volcanic rock. And cold weather and rain protection gear is a must. The tour should do more to let you know about this before the trip.”
